9:45 pm	We got MARRIED!!! As most of our readers know, we got married on July 3rd. So far we have non-pro and semi-pro pictures back, but not the ones we paid the big bucks for. But our livejournal is prettymuch full of cobwebs or tumbleweeds or whatever right now, so I (Amy) decided to go ahead and put up a couple of pictures, so those who didn't attend/aren't facebook friends can at least see us in a couple of nice outfits. One or both of us may post other wedding pics at a later date. In other news, most of you also know that we are moving to Bastrop soon (soon in this case means "in 4 days"). We are definitely looking forward to being closer to Austin and the people that we know there. 6:49 pm	Just Checking in . . . . I'm sure everybody already knows, but of course, our place in Galveston WASN'T okay (it was getting kind of annoying seeing that last entry when logging into livejournal). It burned down and we lost virtually everything (when we went back we were able to salvage a small bag of things from the garage and the very front of the house - a dustpan, a couple of books, some stuff from the fireplace mantle). We were lucky enough to get a new place on the island, though it is basically half the square feet for the same price, and right now, a 5th floor walk-up as the elevators aren't yet functioning. We have been living here without furniture (using an air mattress, sitting on the floor to watch TV, etc.) for a couple of weeks, but will be moving in at least some furniture this weekend with the help of movers. But a lot of Galvestonians are still in tents or hotels, so complaints should probably be kept to a minimum. We did upload a couple of pictures of our old place - these were first put up on Amy's myspace blog so you may have seen them there. 12:01 pm	We are okay . . . . . . not so sure about our place in Galveston, however. We are staying with Amy's mom in Bastrop (just east of Austin) for the time being. We left early Thursday afternoon (after boarding up doors and windows) with our cats and dog, a few changes of clothes, Amy's laptop (which we're currently using at a coffee shop in Bastrop), and tupperware full of paella that Amy made for Jeff's birthday. When it's declared relatively safe, we will be returning to the island to see what's happened to our townhouse. We dunno when we'll be going back to work, but are worried that we might be expected back before power goes back on since Amy works for the school district and Jeff works for the health district. 7:55 pm	House of Pies, the first hour of 2008 Sorry for the long absence from livejournal, things got crazy near the end of the semester as Amy was juggling school and jobs and both of us (well, mostly Jeff) were making preparations for our move to Galveston (which was December 15th). We definitely have a backlog of pictures to post, and will try to get caught up soon, but for now, here are two pictures from yesterday, New Year's Eve. We celebrated in Houston, first we went to the Proletariat to hear local DJs and hip-hop, then we left right after midnight to beat the crowd at the House of Pies. 7:50 pm	Day trip to Albany, 10/6/07 A couple of weeks ago, we paid a second visit to Albany, a small town about 30 minutes away from Abilene. Albany is tiny (population is less than 2,000), but it has a great art museum (The Old Jail Art Center), some good places to shop, and at least one good restaurant (The Ice House). 6:12 pm	Amy playing (mini-) golf at Myrtle Beach, May 23rd-25th For this year's visit to Myrtle Beach, we decided to take full advantage of all of the crazy mini-golf courses that can be found there. Beforehand, we did some practicing on weekends at Play Faire Park in Abilene, thinking that that way we wouldn't totally embarrass ourselves.
